Emergency Food and Rental Assistance

Emergency Food Vouchers Are Available To Qualified Families

Mien International Enrichment Network is partnering with the Lao Community Services Center, Hmong Association of Washington, Lao-Khmu of Washington, POM Foundation, and Kinnaly Foundation through their collaborative efforts of the United Communities of Laos to continue providing emergency food assistance to the communities of Laos. Through this program, food vouchers to Safeway are available to qualified families in the Iu Mien community. The food vouchers are in values of $50 to $400 depending on qualification. Please complete this short form and if you qualified, you will be contacted with instructions on where to pick up the voucher(s), or will be mailed to you.

We have received a large volume of applications. We are no longer accepting applications. You will be notified by January 15, 2021, about your qualification and instruction on how you will receive the voucher, if qualified. 

Emergency Food Box Delivery to Your Home

United Way of King County is offering weekly home delivery of groceries in partnership with select King County food banks and Door Dash. This service offers preset variety cases of foods from local food banks. This may include canned meals, canned fruit, canned veggies, pasta, or other miscellaneous items. Some deliveries may contain perishable items like bread or produce.

This program is currently at capacity; however, you can submit the below form to be added to our waitlist. If you provide an email address you will receive an update every two weeks on the status of your request. You may also reach out to fooddelivery@uwkc.org or call (253) 237-2019 at any time to request confirmation of this status. If your address or contact information changes while you are on the waitlist, please also call or email us with this update.

Rental Assistance Available

Mien International Enrichment Network in partnership with the Lao Community Services Center, Hmong Association of Washington, Lao-Khmu of Washington, POM Foundation, and Kinnaly Foundation through their collaborative efforts of the United Community of Laos to continue providing rental assistance to Iu Mien community. Funds are limited and first come first serve.

USDA Farmers to Families Round 2

During the October 3, 2020 distribution, we learned that are more needs in our communities for food assistance. MIEN is partnering with the Lao Community Services Center, Hmong Association of Washington, Lao-Khmu of Washington, POM Foundation, and Kinnaly Foundation through their collaborative efforts of the United Community of Laos to continue providing food and rental assistance to communities of Laos. Our next distribution of food will take place on October 31st. Please continue to check our updates on future food distribution dates, rental assistance, and digital equity resources that will become available.

August 29, 2020 - Distribution

Special Thanks to Mien Evangelical Church for allowing the volunteers to use their parking for emergency food distribution. Many gratitudes and appreciations go to the wonderful volunteers from various communities who come together to help out. We served over 400 families between the three sites and four communities. There were 67 Iu Mien families who received assistance from this project. 

Mien International Enrichment Network is partnering with United Communities of Laos, a coalition of six non-profit organizations in Washington State to provide relief assistance to the families in the communities of Loas (Khmu, Hmong, Iu Mien, and Lao-Lue) who are impacted by the Covid-19. Please complete the application using either the paper form or the online form via the link provided below. You can return the paper application to the person who gave you the application or take it to the food distribution location. If you complete the online form, you do not need to return the form. For rental assistance, someone will contact you to let you know whether you have been approved or denied.
