Job Title: Digital Equity Specialist – Iu Mien

Job Duration: December 1 - December 31, 2020

Hours: Flexible

Total Compensation: $2,200 (based on 21 working days at 4 hours per day and mileages)

Report To: President of Mien International Enrichment Network

Number of Positions: Two

 

Summary:

We live in a digitally connected world, our families need to be connected to stay informed of what is going on in the world and have access to digital resources. The pandemic has changed the way we live, learn, work, and socialize. Online access has become vital part of everyday living. In an effort to ensure every Iu Mien family have access digital resources, Mien International Enrichment Network partnering with United Communities of Laos to secure resources to help identify families in the underserved Iu Mien communities have access to digital resources such as computer and/or internet access. The role of the Digital Equity Specialist (Iu Mien), serve under the direction of the President Mien International Enrichment Network, collaborating with Digital Equity Coordinator (UCL) to identify families in the underserved Iu Mien communities who need access to computers and/or internet and connect them to organizations that provide those resources.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Identify families in the Iu Mien communities who need access to a computer and/or internet.
  • Work with the family to complete a survey (needs assessment)
  • Work with the Digital Equity Coordinator to submit data to Equity in Education Coalition (EEC).
  • Work with the Digital Equity Coordinator to identify state funded computer and/or internet service contractor
  • Coordinate with families identified with needs with the service providers to obtain the services

Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak and write Mien fluently
  • Must have a vehicle and insurance and drive to family's home to interview family
  • Must be able to work flexible hours such as evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to read and write English well to help families to complete survey form
  • Must be comfortable calling and/or going to families’ house to conduct the survey
  • Must adhere to the social distance protocol and use PPE and hand sanitizer at all time while working with families at their home to conduct survey and/or install computer equipment/internet.
